About Gerry Gleeson Dream Homes

Gerry Gleeson  Dream Homes is an Architectural Practice in Kildare that began trading in September 2016 but we have over 40 years experience in the construction industry. Our objective is to fill a gap in the market for an Architectural and Project Management Practice that specialises and deals only with the self-build process. We design great homes, secure planning permission and manage the entire construction of self – build family homes in  Ballymore Eustace, Co. Kildare, Ireland.

 About Me

Gerry Gleeson

My name is Gerry Gleeson and I’ve been working within the construction industry since 1975. Since 1986 I have been involved in the self -build sector and have played a part in the building of some hundreds of self – build family homes.

I live in Ballymore Eustace, Co. Kildare with my wife Máiréad. We have been married for 35 years and together for 41.

We are the proud parents of Michael, Sarah and our twins Alan and Eileen. We are also proud grandparents to Emma, Hayden and Amy.

About Our Homes

Over our married life we have lived in:

  • 3-bed semi in an estate
  • 3-bed rented bungalow in the countryside
  • 5-bed  self – built dormer bungalow
  • 3-bed mobile home on site
  • 5-bed self – built renovated and extended home

The above list is the correct order and has let us see how each house type would work for family life and how it would have to fulfill different needs as the family grows.

For example, when children are small the whole family uses one sitting room. However, as the teenage years descend upon us it seems every child wants their own “space” and having provided them with this, they meet that someone special and move out. Parents then sometimes decide to downsize and end up back where they started a two to three bedroom house.

About My Career Experience

In 1978 I began working for James Harrington & Associates, Civil & Structural Engineers, in Dublin. In 1979 I returned to Bolton Street College of Technology to achieve my Diploma in Structural Engineering.

From 1980 to 1985 I worked for Molony & Millar, Consulting Engineers, in Terenure, Dublin.  It was here where I received a good grounding in the structural aspects of construction.

1985 saw me take up employment with Ballymore Homes Ltd., owned by Sean Mulryan, in my hometown of Ballymore Eustace Co. Kildare. With Ballymore Homes Ltd. I was in charge of the Drawing Office.

In 1988 while still working for Ballymore Homes Ltd. I broadened my experience by moving from the Drawing Office to on-site management of new housing estates. These started with “Ashton” in Blessington, then “Highfields” in Swords and finally to “Beechdale” in Blessington.

In 1994 I left Ballymore Homes Ltd. and started my self – employment career in self-build homes. In my practice, I had concentrated on the design of “one-off” homes for clients on their own sites both rural or urban. I also work with clients on renovations, alterations, and extension projects.
