The “Curragh” was designed as a modern-day Bungalow and meets the requirements of blending into its environment of similar style homes. The living and sleeping areas are separated by the centrally located hallway. The rooms are well proportioned with The Master Bedroom having its own ensuite bathroom. The open Kitchen / Dining / Family area reflects the modern trend in Family Living.
This One and a Half Storey Family Home was designed for a couple whose previous Agent convinced them that all they would be allowed Planning Permission for was a Dormer Bungalow. The Bulky Dormer that was granted permission was not what they wanted and thankfully they had the good sense to “Go Back to the Drawing Board” but this time with me and we achieved Planning Permission for this Modern Style, Light and Airy One and a Half Storey Home which takes maximum advantage of their views and Solar Gain.
The Design Brief for this Design was to achieve an open Plan Loft Apartment Style living while blending in with its mountain setting. The approach was to take two narrow plan vernacular style buildings and slide them past one another. this maintained their low profile image within their setting yet they are interconnected. The Front Elevation appears to be two small cottages with one joined onto the other, but set back behind the other, thus maintaining the illusion. Result – Happy Planners and very Happy Clients.
